Painted Bar Stools

Found this stool under a house my dad bought.  Usually if the piece is keepable, I will just sand and stain.  But wanted to try and do something a bit different.  So searched the web for ideas and decided to try being bright and colorful. I was very pleased with how it turned out.  Gave it to one of my DILs.  She loved it.

House O Lantern 2009

We used cardboard (black posterboard would also work) to make 4 squares, one for each square in the window. Cut them to fit snugly. Then using a box cutter, cut out the face in each square. Then tape orange tissue paper over the cut-outs. Put in window.

We did cut up some black construction paper to cover up some of the sides where the cardboard didn't fit perfectly. And in the mouth area, it looks like two mouths instead of one. Another boo-boo.

We all really like it and I love the fact that we made something so cool without having to go to the store and spend any money.

Love it, love it!

Kitchen Pegboard

I have discovered that pegboard is not just for the garage. There are only 3 drawers in my kitchen. I use one for towels, one for silverware and the other for utensils. The utensil drawer has also become a junk drawer. So.. I decided to put a piece of pegboard up and hang utensils on it. I painted some door molding to use as a frame. I cut a hole for the phone to fit in. A few posts back, I showed where I used some drawers for the spice rack. They were painted brown, but with the pegboard frame being black, the brown just didn't look good. So down came the spice rack/drawers and repainted them black. Much better. I like it.
